Want to be a part of our Kingdom work?
Even the Smallest Effort Matters
“Jesus says to His disciples, ‘Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.’” -Matthew 10:40-42
These verses speak about “hospitality” as receiving and welcoming the stranger. Jesus reminds us of a very profound privilege, and, along with that, a tremendous responsibility for His disciples—we represent Him before others. Jesus assures us that He will be present in our lives when we welcome others into our midst. He is also present when others do the same for us.
These passages also share that God rewards even the smallest contribution. Jesus does not specify the nature of the reward for His disciples, but only assures us of its certainty, in this life and in heaven.
